Availability of talent in the sterility assurance space can be a challenge as those subject matter experts with knowledge and experience are in limited number. Therefore, given the importance of sterilization and sterility assurance to the industry, development framworks and a robust talent pipeline are critical to ensure current and future success.
A sterility assurance development framework can be used to attract, develop, and retain SME’s whilst inspiring them to continuously grow and diversify their experiences by:
- Empowering them to take ownership of their career
- Bringing visibility to the next steps required to further their career
- Enhancing succession planning by creating a career map and giving insights on how to build diversity of experiences
Utilizing the SfSAP learning framework enables industry to:
- Formulate a standard approach to demonstrate competency of their SME’s
- Collectively establish the required level of knowledge, skills, and experiences that is needed to demonstrate competency in all aspects of sterility assurance
- Drive training requirements and the development of Sterility Assurance professionals through a competency framework
BD are embedding the SfSAP principles into their Sterility Assurance Development Program by:
- Matching the core competencies and proficiency levels
- Aligning technical expertise to each of the elements with the SfSAP curricula
- Incorporating the learning outcomes into the technical framework
I would like to share our experience of building, implementing, and using the BD Sterility Assurance development framework.
